It is with a heavy heart that write this eulogy today to honor the life of my beloved grandmother. She fondly called me “Little Miss,” a name that always made me smile, because as a child, I had a red pullover with those words written on it. It was her way of reminding me how special I was to her, and it’s a name I’ll always treasure.

One of my most cherished memories is how she never missed a single “visiting” day while I was in boarding school. I would look forward to seeing her, with her warm smile and the bag of goodies she brought along. She made those visits feel like a piece of home had come to me.

When I fell sick in boarding school, she traveled all the way from Bali to stay with me at the hospital. She spent her nights on the hospital chair, refusing to leave my side, making sure I ate, took my medicine, and got the care I needed to get better.

I also have the most wonderful memories of spending my third-term holidays in Bali with her. We would go to the farm, fetch water from the stream, and I would play with my cousins, laughing and having fun in a way that only childhood summers can bring. Those days were filled with the kind of joy and peace that she radiated in everything she did.

Mamiss was the embodiment of love and selflessness. She showed her love in the smallest of ways—through her presence, her care, her sacrifices, and her unwavering support. She was always there when I needed her, and I will forever be grateful for her love.

Though she is no longer with us, her legacy of kindness, strength, and love will live on in our hearts. I will carry her lessons with me every day, and though my heart is heavy, I find comfort in knowing she is resting peacefully.

I love you, mamiss, and I will miss you dearly. You will always be in my heart,

Your “Little Miss.”
